Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott St. Louis Downtown

The room price felt great for what we got: high ceilings, big TVs, tasteful decor, and a lovely view. The hotel was clean, quiet, classy but low-key, and I left impressed. After several recent hotel stays, I’d nearly given up on being comfortable. St. Louis is tough on my allergies, and I’d assumed unseen mold, dust mites, and leftover pet dander meant I’d just have to suffer everywhere. Turns out those other rooms really were unclean. My medicine and nasal spray work pretty well, and here I could finally relax. After a long train ride, we slept like babies in the surprisingly comfortable beds. My family and I were also delighted to find breakfast with protein and fiber instead of just sugary pastries. The outdoor fireplace was lovely, and the woman who checked us in was kind and understanding. We’d absolutely stay again.

The staff made this a smooth, memorable St. Louis stay. Christina at the front desk was warm, engaging, and focused on keeping customers happy. She was so welcoming. Michelle at the bar was a lot of fun to talk with once she warmed up. We spent two nights there because she kept things lively. As we say in Texas, her personality is bigger than Dallas. I was traveling from STL back to Austin, Tx, stayed here 12/07-12/10, then again on 12/16. Everything went smoothly, the staff were amazing, and it felt like a truly professional Marriott experience.

Housekeeping missed the mark during our visit: the room wasn’t cleaned properly, and even the garbage was left behind. Breakfast also offered very little for vegetarians and almost nothing for vegans. The hotel was comfortable, but those issues kept the stay mixed. The Fairfield Inn & Suites St. Louis is in a handy spot, right off the highway, near downtown, and within walking distance of Union Station. The surrounding area is quiet, with little going on in the evenings. Better cleaning and more inclusive food choices would make it a much stronger option.

The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were nice and clean. But parking was awful. There aren’t enough spaces for the number of rooms, and when the lot fills up you have to park far away because there’s no street parking. We were on the fourth floor and could hear every car driving by, so the outside noise made sleeping difficult.
