Hampton Inn St. Louis-Downtown (At the Gateway Arch)

The staff made this a good stay. Everyone was kind and quick to bring us what we needed, the bathroom and linens were clean, and the pool was clean too, which the kids loved. Breakfast was kept stocked and attended, though it wrapped up at 9 a.m. The Arch view was a nice bonus, and I appreciated the key access at the entrance and elevators. The parking lot was gated and had security, although the fee felt a bit high. The main drawbacks were the tired, dingy carpet and long elevator waits at busy times because one elevator was out of service. They put out free water and candy, which was thoughtful, but it didn't solve the delays. The location worked well for us, and at this price I'd still consider it a solid hotel.

I had a view of the Arch from my room, and the location worked really well for the convention center. It was four blocks away, with the Metro to the airport just two blocks away, which is handy if you're attending an event. Lawrence, the assistant GM, checked me in around 2 a.m. after my flight was delayed, and he and front desk staff member Brittany were courteous, friendly, and very helpful. I'll stay here again when I'm back in St. Louis.

We came for a volleyball tournament, and the team could use the breakfast area for dinner together. The lobby was comfortable, and our room had plenty of space. I don't usually choose a Hampton Inn, but I'm glad we did. Service was a 10/10, especially Sabrina in the breakfast area. She was so kind and gave my day a lovely start.

The rooms were very nice, and the staff were great. The location made for a pleasant walk to Busch Stadium. Breakfast was okay: the oatmeal met Hampton Inn standards, though the coffee and orange juice didn't. One surprise, at least for us, was the $30 nightly parking charge if you have a car.
