There are plenty of comforts here: a decent gym, free coffee, a lovely lobby and club room you can rent for private events, secure doors, gated parking, a secure garage, and an Amazon Hub for UPS and Amazon packages even when you’re away for days. Kellie and Nancy are friendly and helpful, and maintenance has been quick when something needed fixing. Our spacious two-bedroom apartment was quiet and comfortable. The common balcony on the 13th floor is great for watching sunrises, fog, July 4th fireworks, and the river. Views include downtown, Busch stadium, the Arch, and the river. Living on the downtown side does mean getting used to noise from bikers, car clubs showing off, ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. On baseball nights traffic gets heavy, and fireworks go off at the stadium for every Cardinals home run and win. That’s downtown. We’d buy an apartment in this building if we could, but they only rent.

Our tour at Pointe 400 was our sixth apartment visit during a trip from WI to St. Louis to look for housing for my sons. One is finishing federal government training, and the other attends UMSL. We’d scheduled through the website a week earlier and received confirmation. At the start, the woman greeting us said there were no apartments available and told us to look again closer to our May 1st move date. She then went over prices for upcoming corner units and other costs, as if she thought that would put us off. I explained that my son needs housing lined up before his training ends. She nodded, but kept talking about prices, even though we hadn’t raised the subject. When I asked whether federal government workers get a discount, she said no, they stay about 95% full, and that people would laugh at her if she asked. I explained that this was our sixth tour and nearly every other place had offered some kind of perk for federal agents. She then showed my son how to use their website, which seemed unnecessary for a 23-year-old, but I let her continue. Then she again pointed out a floor plan at about $1,700, saying it was more in our price range. I stopped her and explained that we hadn’t given a price range; we cared about the look, feel, and environment of the community. I ended the tour and left with my family. I’ve never felt so disrespected. She judged what we could afford without knowing she was speaking to a doctor and someone six months from becoming a Secret Service agent. This was absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I don’t want an apology. I want Pointe 400 to do better and keep people with discriminatory mindsets from leading tours. Their response to this review only makes me think nothing will change. There was no misunderstanding, and no one else’s account could make what happened different. Own it and improve your practices.

The maintenance team here is great. Tony is extremely quick and helpful with different apartment issues, and Tommy helped me get back inside after I got locked out. Thanks to both of them!

We’ve been here two years now, and my husband and I still love our place. It’s peaceful, and we’re glad to call it home for a few more years. I also appreciate the new management working through problems that were left unfinished or never handled by the old team. When I first toured, the spacious apartments, big windows, hardwood floors, kitchen layout, and one-minute walk to the Arch grounds won me over. My main concern is security. I wish there were more cameras; all downtown St. Louis apartments could use plenty of them. Some neighbors also frustrate me: dog owners who don’t clean up after their pets, and people whose guests park in paid reserved spots without regard for others.

I’ve lived here since mid-2019. The location and the apartment’s size and layout worked for me, even when the building was mediocre and had problems. Management changed several times without much improvement, until this latest team arrived. The building feels completely different now, and the potential it always had is finally coming through. Christy, Nancy, and the rest of the new staff have made Pointe 400 a great place to call home.
