Red Roof Inn PLUS+ St Louis - Forest Park/ Hampton Ave

The parking lot was lit up really well, and check-in was quick, easy, and pleasant. Everyone on the cleaning staff was nice, and the room was clean. I had the upgraded room with a mini fridge and microwave, though I couldn't connect any devices to the TV or screencast. Aside from that, it was an easy, lovely stay. I'd recommend it.

I've been staying at the Red Roof Inn Plus off of Hampton and 44 in South St Louis for 3 to 4 years. When I heard new owners had taken over, I wasn't sure much would change, but I was wrong. Things are run much better now, the crowd renting rooms has changed for the better, and housekeeping is more efficient. Rooms are cleaner, and the towels and linens are fresh. The staff are respectful and very nice. Rates are more competitive, and they now take cash, which is handy. Just bring exact change because they don't give change back. The rooms are getting older and could use some rehabbing, though. I've been happy with the change in ownership and plan to keep staying at Red Roof Inn Plus hotels.

My Airbnb plans fell through earlier this week, so I had to book a last-minute room through hotels.com. The staff seemed annoyed, though it was very late, so I understood. The room was dark even with all the lights on, and the bed wasn't very comfortable. The bathtub was the worst part. It was dirty and oily, not just slippery.

The people in Still. Louis are lovely, but this place was a mess. The rooms were dated and had no fridge, microwave, or other extras, despite being advertised as "plus" economy rooms. The floors were dirty with grime that a vacuum could have picked up, and the smell was bad enough that we left the door open with the AC fan running. I wouldn't use the shower. One outlet for the hair dryer had a prong lodged in it, which felt about as safe as the Indiana State Prison. The staff may not be paid enough to care, but the rooms could have been alright if they'd been cleaned.
