St Michaels Inn

It wasn't a bad stay, but the price felt high for what we got. The room was clean, though the bathroom looked worn and had some maintenance issues. There was no breakfast or manager in the morning.

St. Micheals is a motel, though it's clean and well kept. The shower water does smell like eggs. Don't count on breakfast, a helpful morning front desk receptionist, or a clean, helpful manager. The evening receptionist was wonderful, but the breakfast issue, the incompetent morning receptionist, and the aggressive manager will keep me away.

The location worked great for us, just a three to five minute drive into town where parking is free, and the men in the lobby were kind and shared what they knew about the area. We would stay again. It's clean and close to town, and for its price the service and location are good value. The room itself was spotless, with clean bathroom, towels, and sheets, and the maid cleaned it each day. The hotel is dated in places, and the carpet wasn't in the best shape, though it was clean. This is a ground-level motel, so a fly or two came in when we left the door open while unpacking. That seemed like something that can happen at home too, and the room wasn't attracting them. The faucet and shower had a strong sulfur smell at first, but it passed and didn't linger. We didn't use the pool because of the weather, though it looked well kept. We also missed the free breakfast since we went into town each morning, so I can't comment on it. Some reviews seemed over the top to me. Keep the price in mind when booking: it's not a five-star Four Seasons type of place.

There was a blood stain on the bed when my husband and I arrived, so we asked to move rooms. The front desk said they would comp our second night because of what happened, but my card was charged almost $1K when I expected a credit. The manager told me the total would be refunded. After we checked out and got home, I found an additional $165 charge. When I called, the manager said that was for our second night. This has been a nightmare, and I'm still fighting the charges. The manager was incredibly rude to my husband on the phone. DO NOT STAY HERE! Zero stars!
