Being near the airport was a big plus, and the rooms were fine, nothing special. But while I was out for the day, housekeeping removed all my things even though my checkout wasn’t until the following day. I got my hair straightener back, but the woman at the desk said she couldn’t find my other items. The giant wall-to-wall mirror behind the bed made me uneasy, though it wasn’t a huge issue. The shower was difficult to set: it was either much too hot or much too cold, no matter how slightly I adjusted it. There were hard water stains and what looked like mildew on the curtain, and a hole in the built-in soap shelf.

I knew this was a cheaper hotel and expected to overlook a few things, but the room was disgusting. I couldn’t bring myself to take off my shoes and had to leave right away to book another hotel. The lights didn’t work, furniture was stained and had burn holes, something was smeared on the wall, and there were holes in the floor. It was a nightmare.

The bedding looked like it hadn’t been cleaned: the sheets were wrinkled with black shoe marks, and the pillows were yellowed. I even got bitten when I lay down. I seriously suspect they reuse bedding between guests without washing it, which is completely unacceptable. The whole place felt old and outdated.

We booked two nights at what I’d been looking forward to as a micro hotel, but it was so bad. Ants were all over the room on the first night, including in our bed. My husband asked to move rooms and was told no because they were full. We asked again the next night, even though hardly anyone was in the parking lot, and were still refused. The room looked clean when we returned, but the ants remained. They did offer breakfast: waffles, a few bagels, coffee, and I think orange juice. I don’t drink coffee and just wanted water, but there wasn’t any. Nobody else came for breakfast while I was there. A sign on the wall said not to take breakfast to the rooms, in English that wasn’t very good. I’ve stayed in some pretty rough places, so I know what I’m judging.

The room was disgusting, with at least three roaches, and the furniture was falling apart. We’ll never stay again. We arrived late at night after finding the room online and just needed somewhere to sleep. People were hanging out of their room windows. Staff said we had 15 minutes to inspect the room or we wouldn’t get a refund; I assumed that was a Microtel policy, but soon saw why they said it. Getting to the room took a while because we had a trailer and needed to find a place to park. The card reader to enter the building was recessed into the wall and very difficult to use.
