Coffee, tea and soft drinks were available any time, along with a shared refrigerator since there wasn’t one in our room. Breakfast was a nice assortment of muffins, fresh fruit, French toast casserole and bacon. The grounds looked attractive, and our room was spacious, clean and bright. Will welcomed us, explained the property and suggested places for dinner, though that was our only interaction with the owners. The house was quiet and restful, just outside St. Michael's and away from the busy highway, although easy to miss without clear signage. A few things didn’t compare well with other B&Bs at similar prices. We were told not to adjust the temperature control; luckily it was cool enough to open the windows. Some outlets didn’t work, so we charged our phones in the bathroom, and a few blinds were broken and hard to adjust. There were also cosmetic spots needing drywall and paint touch-ups, but nothing unsafe or unsanitary.

Will got us an early breakfast on our first morning, before the stated meal time, since our event started early. It was delicious, and the next day we had time to chat with him before heading out. Such a great host. We’d definitely return for his company, the breakfasts and the lovely accommodations. We chose George Brooks House B&B because it was convenient to where we needed to be near St. Michaels, with little tourist noise due to its location slightly off the beaten path. The old house was charmingly decorated, and our room was clean and comfortable, with a just-right mattress. There was plenty of parking and two charging stations for our EV.

We booked the whole George Brooks Inn for our wedding weekend in St. Michael’s, with family and the wedding party staying together. It made a spectacular gathering spot: the gardens and outdoor pool were beautiful, and each spacious room had its own full bathroom. The inn has a lot of charm. Will was courteous and helpful throughout the weekend, making sure we had what we needed. It was a great place to celebrate.

We ended up moving 35 minutes away to the Hyatt Place in Kent Narrows, where the pool was open and free, breakfast was delicious, there was a full bar and our room faced the water, all for just $30 more than George Brooks House’s B&B. That saved our anniversary. We had considered St. Michael's Inn, but the owner called it motel-like and low quality, and we didn’t trust his judgment. He offered his other location, which we declined. We left George Brooks House immediately after seeing the property. We’d booked directly through the owner’s website, but he wasn’t expecting us. No one answered the phone, and when I called the number on the answering machine, he seemed surprised and said, “how would I know” when I asked about our reservation. We had to wait in the car because the mosquitoes were too bad. He invited us to sit by the pool with cool drinks, but the mosquitoes were still a problem. When he arrived, I asked if he’d received my reservation screenshot. He held up his dark phone and said, “I was on the couch sleep!” The place was dark and musty, with hay on both sides of the porch. There were papers across both tables, a dirty, cluttered kitchen with more papers and a toolbox, and water bottles lying around. The pollen on the upper landing outside our room, Afternoon Delight, was the worst part. The owner said, “Excuse the pollen, it was a rough year.” My asthma immediately flared up, after years without an episode, and we couldn’t use the chairs. The outside deck windows were grimy and covered in cobwebs, and a bedroom door was off its hinges. The owner asked what time we wanted breakfast, but the thought of food being made there was frightening. This reservation should never have been accepted. He should have apologized and recommended somewhere else right away. The pool, hot tub and gardens have potential, but there shouldn’t be an extra charge for the pool. He should be ashamed to show the property in that condition. I submitted this review when we first left, but it didn’t post, so here I am again. Do not book George Brooks House B&B. Deplorable conditions.

The breakfasts were thoughtfully made and yummy, and my room was spotless, spacious and had plenty of places to sit. The bed had a very comfortable, hotel-quality mattress, and the furnishings suited the period. The owner knows a lot about this historic property and kindly shared its story and renovations. It’s only a short way from town, but quiet, without the road or tourist noise. There are even bicycles for guests to use, which you don’t often find. A lovely fall getaway, and summer would be nice too with the pool and hot tub, plus lots of outdoor space for socializing or sitting privately.
