Coconut Inn

It had that old Key West feel, and the owners were about as friendly as they could be. We loved walking to the Pass a Grill restaurants, especially Seahorse, and the beach is right across the street. We used the provided chairs every day, rode the free bikes, and slept well in a great bed. The pool was warm even during a cold spell. Best of all, we grilled steaks outside after buying them at Shaners market, and had two of our four dinners that way. What’s not to love?

The bathrooms are historic and on the small side, but we had everything we needed and more at this little gem. There are only 11 rooms, so call ahead and they can talk through which one fits you, whether you care most about the view, pool, size, or beds. It felt like staying at a friend’s beach home. The rooms are quaint, the courtyard pool is quiet, and there’s a full outdoor kitchen and gazebo area. They provide beach chairs, umbrellas, fishing gear, bikes, a paddle board, coffee, and creamers. The kitchens are well equipped, parking is complimentary, and there’s both air conditioning and heat. It’s about a block from the beach, maybe closer, right in the middle of Pass-a-Grille and near restaurants. The property is clean and quiet, with the larger St Pete Beach towns a quick drive away. Staff were friendly, knew the area, and handled requests incredibly fast. And Baxter, the legendary house and neighborhood cat, is friendly but elusive. We loved it so much I almost didn’t want to review it and make our little secret busier. We can’t wait to book again.

A laid-back, old Florida kind of inn, with outstanding, easygoing staff. The rooms are more than adequate, and the pool is quite nice. You’re just steps from the beach and a block from restaurants. They’ve thoughtfully provided lots of beach toys, too. It feels way less high strung than St Pete beach. Definitely worth a stay!

We just spent a wonderful week at the Coconut Inn. The grounds were fabulous, and the beach is close by, with restaurants, shopping, and incredible sunsets all right there. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very well appointed. The staff were the best, and even Baxter made us feel at home. We’ll return as soon as we can.
