Courtyard St. Louis St. Peters

I woke up to more than 15 ladybugs crawling around the room and over my belongings. I took photos and videos and showed them to the front desk, where I was told this was a “known issue” and they “can’t do anything about it.” That’s no acceptable answer to an infestation, especially with no plan to address it. Guests shouldn’t have to sleep with bugs in the room. A convenient location doesn’t make up for sanitation and comfort problems. Management needs to take this seriously before booking people into these conditions. Do not book.

The area is good, with plenty of things nearby, and that was the main plus. But the total with what seemed like five different taxes came to over $200. The hotel sits right by the interstate, so it was very noisy. My room’s bathroom was in poor shape, with a patch running across the shower area. It still had a cramped tub, which feels like a fall risk, and the room had carpet, which I don’t like. The rooms are dated, and the gym needs newer equipment. I didn’t use the pool or have food or drinks, so I can’t comment on those. The whole area is short on hotels, especially newer ones. It feels like a franchise with several policies I didn’t like. There’s a parking lot, yet they charge $5 to park. Bonvoy members don’t get water, and they still require a payment method at check-in, which makes me wonder why I entered it into Bonvoy in the first place if they can’t carry it over. Oddly, keyless check-in does find that payment method. I suspect they’d also find it if you didn’t show up.

The room was great, and the person who checked me in was awesome. I’ve stayed here a few times, but Antoinet, the morning server, is such a wet blanket. Whenever I get coffee from her, she acts like I’m interrupting her while she’s doing nothing. Her attitude is poor, though maybe she’s very reliable and that’s the trade-off. There are other Marriott properties just down the road, and they don’t have Antoinet. I think I’ll skip this Courtyard from now on.

The location was convenient and easy to get around from, and the staff were courteous and willing to help whenever I needed something. My room was spotless, and the quiet, efficient air conditioning kept it comfortable. The TV was modern, responsive, and had a good channel selection, which was nice to have when I was relaxing in the room. Check-in through checkout, the stay at Courtyard by Marriott St. Louis St. Peters exceeded my expectations. The service felt better than I’d expect from a mid-range hotel, and I’d happily recommend the place. I’d return.
