The Birchwood

You can't beat the view at the Brichwood Canopy. The food was delicious, and the drinks were great, too. Our server, Judah, took care of us all evening, with great conversation and lots of laughs. He was the best. Ask for Judah if you go!

For the price, I expected some common conveniences that weren't included. Parking was a nightmare, and the hotel was exceptionally loud. We were on the third floor, and when the main hotel elevator locked at a certain time, we had to use the outside one. The employees' snootiness was a big turnoff. I won't be back.

It's a beautiful, quaint place. Parking is tight and hard to find on weekends, though they do offer valet parking and I'd recommend using it. My one suggestion is about the cleaning. They started vacuuming the hallway outside the rooms around 8 am, and the sound carried right into our room. After that, there was no sleeping. Maybe they could change the time they start vacuuming the halls. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

The room experience was unacceptable, so I can't recommend this hotel at all, even though the location is excellent and right by a beautiful waterfront promenade. The restaurant, on the other hand, is the real highlight, with excellent food and an outstanding wine selection. We couldn't rest in room 208. Its window faced the trash area, and loud bottles woke us at 3:00 am, followed by the garbage truck at 6:00 am. The room was dark, looked out at a wall, and the shower water never got properly hot. The pillows were among the most uncomfortable we've ever had. There was no minibar, and the very outdated TV had only local channels, with no Netflix or other streaming. The "included breakfast" was disappointing, just tea and coffee at a small station, a couple of Chobani yogurts, and an overripe banana that wasn't appealing.
