The shower was filthy, with hair all over the bathtub, and the water drained very slowly. We waited an hour for maintenance or housekeeping to arrive. She tried snaking the drain, but apparently it was a recurring problem that needed a plumber. After we waited some more, I was told someone would contact me. When an hour passed without hearing anything, I went to the desk. The hotel was sold out, and they said we could leave early and get a full refund. It was Valentine’s Day weekend, and localtopia was happening, so hotels nearby were full. Thankfully, we found a room near Tropicana field at Tru by Hilton, which I highly recommend. We’d been told a security guard would let us into the building after 10pm so we could check in, but there was no one there when we arrived just after 10. Another couple let us in to get our key. When we came back around 1:30am, two girls were on the steps waiting to check in. We let them in and showed them where to get their key. Who knows how long they’d have been stuck there otherwise? In the morning, I went to the desk to register and officially check in. The woman working there was unwelcoming and dismissive. I still haven’t heard from the supervisor to confirm that we’re actually getting our refund. I’m very disappointed by the negligence and lack of empathy. The event seemed to matter more than dealing with our problem, and that room should never have been checked in to begin with. I hope they contact me to confirm the refund. It’s the least they can do after nearly ruining our weekend.
The people made this stay special. Mark, the manager, was genuinely one of the kindest people, and Katie was wonderful. I loved starting each morning with an iced coffee from the café downstairs. Austin F., the barista, made it perfectly every time and brightened my mornings. Karel, Ariale at reception, and Taylor at reception also gave outstanding service. The property is beautiful, the rooms were impeccably clean, and the atmosphere felt warm, relaxing, and welcoming. The location is convenient, close to downtown, and the views were stunning. This hotel exceeded my expectations, and I loved my stay. I can’t wait to return.
The building had poor ventilation and smelled moldy, and even the towels smelled. The bed was a joke, with a big dip on one side, and the shower curtain around the clawfoot tub didn’t keep water in the tub. No one explained that if you wanted fresh towels, you had to leave the used ones in a basket outside the room. I only figured that out on day three. The room was never made up, the staff weren’t very friendly, and there was nobody available at checkout. Parking directions were wrong too. Not worth the price.
The lobby looked chic, but once we got to the room the fresh paint couldn’t disguise how old and gross the place felt. The bed was sunken, so we turned around and walked right back out. The room was dirty, cheap, and dated, and the bathroom looked straight out of the 60s, in the bad way, not mid-century modern style. It’s an old apartment building. There’s no valet and no on-site parking. The staff were friendly and the bar was cute, but we didn’t stay long enough to take a photo.
The building is beautiful, though I didn’t know it was under construction when I booked. Check-in was quick, and the room was larger than I expected for a boutique hotel, with standard amenities and nothing to complain about there. The bathroom was very small, but overall I enjoyed my stay and would book again. I was there for one night so I could walk to downtown nightlife. Free parking is available in the garage across the street, but for convenience we paid $20 to park beside the building.
