Uptown Suites

For May 17-21, 2026, I booked through booking. Com and never got a room. At first I was told it still needed cleaning and that someone would call when it was ready. Then I got a text saying there were no rooms available and they were sorry. After that, nobody replied to my messages, and I was blocked. I showed up to what looked like kennel conditions near the front desk, though I can't say who worked or stayed there. Neither "Uptown Suites" nor booking. Com made any effort to respond to my emails about getting my $211 back. Don't waste your time here.

The pool was a dark green when my boyfriend and I arrived, and the manager was arguing with the pool cleaners, telling them to hurry because an inspection was coming soon. We were first given the wrong room for the one we had paid for online, then handed a key to another incorrect room. Both rooms smelled like cigarettes. We asked politely for a refund so we could stay somewhere else. The manager said she'd void the online payment but could only return the amount for one of the two nights. I accepted losing the money for the other night. She promised to contact me about voiding the payment and gave me what she called her "personal phone number." I called the next day and left several voicemails and messages, but she never answered. I realized it was a landline. I don't recommend staying here. Save your money.

I lost almost $400 after one of my rooms was cancelled and I had to find another hotel. I tried calling several times to cancel the other room, but nobody picked up. When someone finally answered, they said cancellation had to be 24 hours before check-in. I hadn't known one room was cancelled, and I was willing to pay the fee because I didn't want to pay for both nights when I wouldn't be staying. The person offered no help, said they'd call me back, and never did. Lesson learned, I won't book cheap hotels again. 🙃😭👍🏼

The woman who answers the phone was rude and no help. I'm saying don't stay here because Uptown and Empress are the same hotel, but they use both business names and, according to my experience, both charge you for the stay. It felt like a scam and a double charge.
