Best Western Plus St. Simons

I’ve stayed here three times, and it’s my usual choice when I’m in the area. The staff have always been kind, professional, and helpful. Our king suite had plenty of room for two, and breakfast was good. Since we went in the off season with few rooms booked, Zir may have been smaller, but there was still enough to choose from. There are restaurants and a grocery store within 2-3 miles, and the pier, lighthouse, beaches, and a strip of shops and restaurants are all 10 minutes away or less.

The room was clean and cozy, and the whole place felt warm and welcoming. CANDICE and LATISHA were so helpful and accommodating to our SERVICE DOG. After what had just happened at the holiday Inn next door with its disrespectful, unprofessional front desk employee, they did everything they could to make us feel better. They were polite, informative, and exemplary at customer service. The hotel manager helped make the night enjoyable as well. I’ll stay here again and recommend it.

The location is good, the pool feels resort quality, and the staff are amazing. I wish I could give this hotel five stars, but it doesn’t work for guests with mobility challenges. There’s only one accessible ramp for all the rooms, and getting to it means entering through one lobby door and leaving through another. We parked right in front of our room, yet getting there involved more than 150 yards of narrow doorways, tight sidewalks, and narrow ramps. There is an elevator, but reaching it takes a lot of effort. It’s an older hotel with a dated design, and the rooms have only been updated a little. The small tubs are slick and dangerous. The beds felt like sleeping on 2x4’s, and I had the worst night’s sleep of my life. I went to bed at 9pm, got maybe an hour of sleep, and we left the next morning, cutting a 3 day stay down to one night. If you’re a college kid doing SSI on a budget, it might suit you. If you have mobility challenges, I’d choose a newer place.

It’s affordable, conveniently located, and pretty quiet. We had fun at the pool, and towels and pool toys were available to use. The service was very nice, and you can’t beat free breakfast. My only real gripe was the water pressure. The sink was weak, while the shower pressure was too strong and made a mess on the floor, so we had to keep the water colder to bring it down.
