There were roaches in the bathroom, and the place is cheap for a reason. I wouldn’t book here. If you leave valuables behind, they’ll keep them and never return them. It could be the manager or the cleaning staff. They’ll say they never found anything, even when you show proof you had it during your stay.

The manager and housekeeping are nice, and while the location isn’t great, I could live with that. The bugs are another story. I used to like staying here, but over time it’s become infested with bedbugs and roaches, upstairs and downstairs, rooms with fridges and without. As soon as the lights go out, bugs come out in force. I complained the first day and got moved to a worse room. I didn’t sleep for two days. I just can’t get past all the bugs.

The Wi-Fi is a bit weak and cuts out sometimes. That’s my only complaint. The place is clean, tidy, quiet, well priced, and the AC worked great. There wasn’t dog poop everywhere, either. I saw almost no bugs the first time. On my second stay I found a couple, but keeping food trash outside the room took care of it. That’s unusual for this kind of place. Of all the rundown motels we’ve stayed at in Orange County, this has been the cleanest and quietest, and the manager was willing to work with me on when my check would clear. He didn’t insist we check out at 11 a.m. Thursday even though we planned to come back that night. As long as we had the cash and told him what we needed, he worked with us. If I need a room in this area again, I’ll check with casa playa first.

The owner was really friendly and even offered us a late checkout. The rooms and bathrooms are modern, and the rates are so low for what you get. It was a 10/10 stay, and I’ll come back when I’m in California again.
