Hampton Inn Statesville

The bed was comfortable and the wifi worked, but there were only about five TV channels. At breakfast the dining room was dirty and the food looked gross, even though there seemed to be more staff around than the night before. We checked in after 8 pm and it looked like only one person was working. Our room needed more towels, but when we asked at the desk we were given bath mats. We later saw laundry bins of towels in the dining room and took what we needed for the night. Maybe the evening staffing issue was a one-off. The hotel itself was alright, just not what we’ve come to expect from Hampton.

Dee and Jevonya, sorry if I got your name wrong, were so friendly and helpful. The place was very clean, with comfy beds and soft towels. Great breakfast buffet too!

Breakfast was surprisingly really good, and the woman at the front desk was lovely and kind. The rest of the stay didn’t match the price. The hotel is severely outdated, and we had to switch rooms because the first had water damage, with a bubbling wall, trim coming loose, and a strange smell. The phones didn’t work when we needed to call the front desk for towels. There were no smart TVs, just basic cable with no guide. In the second room, the bathroom floor had grime on it and there were hairs on the toilet, although the bed and sheets were clean. It wasn’t worth the cost, and a lot of the positive reviews feel misleading.

The staff at the desk and the room service were fine, and the room itself was okay. Breakfast was only so-so: food took a while to be replaced, the juice was watery at times, and the dining room was slow to get cleaned. This was the host hotel for our weekend soccer tournament, so maybe they were stretched thin and a bit overwhelmed. Still, this Hampton Inn didn’t feel as clean or well kept as the better ones I’ve stayed at. The bathroom and shower showed wear, the laminate floor was scuffed, and the building and facilities could use a refresh or a deep clean. Not a disaster, just below what I usually expect from Hampton.
