Berkeley House Bed and Breakfast

It was a safe, pleasant walk from this delightful neighborhood to the downtown shops and Shakespeare Theatre. The owners were genuinely kind and very accommodating. Inside, huge rooms and bathrooms had all the amenities, and the historic furniture was beautifully kept, with Victorian lace curtains. The place was immaculately clean and quiet. Outside, the garden, porches, sitting areas, and lovely colors made Berkeley House look like a dream house. I'd gladly stay again and recommend this B&B wholeheartedly.

Cookies in the foyer and sherry and port in the sitting room were a lovely way to end our days exploring town and nearby attractions. Berkeley House is centrally located, within walking distance of upscale restaurants, shops, and museums like the Camera Museum and President Wilson's Library and Museum. We stayed four days, and the hosts prepared breakfast carefully each morning and presented it with flair. Our Davenport Suite was large, clean, and quiet, with modern amenities; its red theme made for a cheerful mood. The antique furnishings and period porcelain throughout the rooms were a feast for the eyes. It felt like home away from home, and we highly recommend Berkeley House Bed and Breakfast.

Downtown is just a five-minute walk, and the town has a lot of charm, friendly locals, mom-and-pop shops, and Shakespeare plays that bring people here. I'll come back. I rented two rooms over the weekend for my sister, her friends, and me during the Queen City Mischief and Magic festival. Jeff and Bonnie were extremely accommodating with everyone's food restrictions, including gluten, dairy, and pork. Jeff bakes different breads fresh for guests and keeps trying new flavors, including gluten-free brownies and pancakes. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and inviting whichever one you choose. My sister said she'd rarely slept on beds so soft. I'd recommend this place 10/10.

Jeff's breakfasts are fantastic, and he's very accommodating about food issues. The large bedrooms are comfortable, and Berkeley House is beautifully furnished with late-19th-century pieces. It's an easy walk to downtown Staunton, its restaurants, Shakespeare theater, and Wilson Library. This bed and breakfast deserves a sixth star. I highly recommend it for a first-rate stay.
