Hotel 24 South

The rooms are very nice, with a big bathroom, and breakfast was good. Loved the bacon and all the fruit. It’s a cozy, beautiful hotel in a nice location, close to restaurants and Mary Baldwin, with pleasant places to walk around outside.

The old town was lovely, and we spent a long time driving around to look at the gorgeous old homes. At the hotel, the staff were friendly and efficient, and there’s an elevator to the parking. Our room was in the old wing, small but modernized and clean. The bathroom was compact but well equipped. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with lovely white bedding and great pillows. A beautiful hotel and a wonderful experience.

Good luck changing or cancelling a reservation. The booking process is misleading, there are no refunds, and bad weather apparently makes no difference. They said the nonrefundable rate was clearly stated, but they charged me as soon as I booked. See the image for why I think they’re wrong. 0 out of 10.

I came in to ask about prices, then decided to stay somewhere else. Since it was cold, I asked the person at the desk if I could sit in the huge lobby for ten minutes before walking back. He said that was fine, but then called the cops on me. I was just sitting peacefully to warm up, and ended up staying only two minutes. If he didn’t want me there, he could have said no instead of agreeing and making it an issue behind my back. It felt creepy and predatory. I’ve never had a stranger treat me like that. That wasn’t normal behavior, it felt like an evil encounter.
