Motel 6 Staunton, VA

I paid 65 bucks for a Saturday night in mid-October, booked through hotels.com, after hiking the Shenandoah National Park Loop. I arrived around 10pm, exhausted, and waited five minutes because nobody was at the counter. Then I called the number I found on Google, and the lady came out. She gave me a room on the second floor, but I was too tired for the stairs and asked about a ground-floor room. The only other option was a pet-friendly room, which she let me look at. It smelled of cat litter, so I stayed with my original room. I appreciated being able to see it first. My room was spacious, with two beds, so I could spread out my luggage and pack my hiking bag for New River Gorge the next day. In the morning they only had coffee, which was fine. The location is convenient, right off the 81 interstate, and the noise wasn't very noticeable. Their Halloween decorations were pretty good.

This was by far the cleanest motel 6 we've stayed at, especially since there aren't many places to stay when traveling with our dog. The property is really well maintained, with extremely clean rooms, a sealed toilet marked as sanitized, clean vents, and no dust on the baseboards. The beds are very firm, but we slept well, and the bathroom shower is nice. We'd definitely stay here again.

There was a nice mowed field beside our room for our pups, and the motel was quiet. The room was clean and well kept, with no carpeting, which is a big plus in a pet-friendly place. Pets also stayed at no extra charge. The shower was roomy, clean, and had plenty of hot water, and the beds were comfortable. There wasn't a coffee pot in the room, but there was free coffee in the lobby. We'd return if we're in the area again.

We often book here when visiting Shenandoah NP with our dog. The rooms are clean and quiet, and the pet rooms look out toward the parking lot and then a large field that's great for dog walks. There's a decent-sized fridge, and the king room has a nice table for two to work or eat at. Really nice for a Motel 6.
