Heavenly Daze Chalet

The layout worked beautifully for a big group. There are six bedrooms, nearly seven, plenty of beds for as many as 15, and four bathrooms. The main kitchen and living rooms are very spacious, easily enough for 10-12 people. We were only six and felt there was room for many more. A second kitchen and living room downstairs add space for larger groups. There’s also a two-car garage beside a large, handy mudroom for getting ski gear on and off. The location is exceptional, with true ski-in/ski-out access in the snow conditions we had, and a lovely mountain view. The outdoor hot tub is large and nice. The house dates from the 70s and has never been updated. It’s all old or run-down: we dealt with a major garage leak, many lights were dead or ineffective, and some couldn’t be switched on. The house felt dark, doors and windows were partly broken and didn’t work normally, the kitchen was like a GE appliance museum, and one room had an airbed with no air. The heaters worked very well despite the lack of insulation, so if you’re concerned about your CO2 footprint, this may not be the place for you. The management company and snowplow staff were nice and effective. In winter, don’t even think of coming without a 4x4. It’s a convenient setup if you’re a large group and convenience matters most, but it’s not cheap given the age and lack of upgrades.
