The part that bothered us most was the food on our latest visit. My daughter was first given a fried chicken sandwich instead of grilled, and our server fixed that quickly, but she found the chicken spicy, dry, and chewy and only ate a bite or two. My wife’s Chicken ala fiddler came with sauce that was too spicy for her, very dry baked chicken, and rice that seemed like it had sat in a warmer all day. She gave up on it and went to the limited salad bar instead. I tried the $70 seafood buffet. There wasn’t much to choose from: the fried shrimp were tiny, the snow crab legs had hardly any meat, and the fried fish nuggets were dull, maybe tilapia or something. The prime rib was okay, and the mac and cheese was good. Service was just okay. We first ate here about eight years ago and loved the recommended seafood buffet so much that we returned a year later. That second visit was terrible, and we later heard the restaurant had changed owners, so we figured they might just need time. We skipped Fiddlers on our next Steinhatchee vacation. This weekend, about two years later, we gave it one more try during a three-day trip. We love Steinhatchee and come almost every year, but it'll be a long time, if ever, before we spend that much at Fiddlers again.
