Rodeway Inn Stephenville

We only booked here because we had our small dog and couldn’t find another place that accepted dogs. The location was good, but that was about it. Service wasn’t good, the room wasn’t cleaned properly, food was still in the refrigerator, and the bed looked like someone had used it. It broke after the first night, and the floors hadn’t been swept. The walls, especially the ceiling, are paper thin. Someone arrived upstairs at midnight and seemed to walk around and move furniture for half the night. There’s no breakfast, and all the vending machines were out of order, including the ice machine. There were no bed bugs, but I still wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We needed somewhere at the last minute to rest after a long day of driving through Stephenville, then get back on the road in the morning. We weren’t expecting much from a basic place for a few hours, but the room was surprisingly comfortable for the price and the staff were super friendly. It looks like the owners are investing in improvements. We slept great and would stay again when passing through.

The room smelled strongly of smoke, and the whole second-floor hall reeked of weed. Nothing had been cleaned before we arrived, and the trash in the photo wasn’t ours. When I went to wash my face, I found that the only full-size towel was already dirty with makeup. The rest were tiny. I know it’s cheap, but basic cleanliness should still be expected. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I stopped for one night on my way to visit family. The staff were super friendly, and the room was very clean. I was surprised by how much attention they paid to details. I’d give more than five stars if I could.
