Budget Inn

After checking in for a couple of days, I started feeling unwell and soon noticed black mold on the ceiling and around the windows. Those areas had been painted over, but the mold hadn’t been properly treated. I’m allergic to mold, and putting anyone in that kind of toxic, unhealthy environment is very dangerous. I told the manager at the Super 8 and asked for a refund. He hung up on me. He manages the Budget Inn, Super 8, and Comfort Inn in Sterling. He’s the most incompetent and inconsiderate hotel manager I’ve ever dealt with.

We stayed three days, and I guess we were lucky to get the room we did based on the reviews. It had a vintage look but was decent and ended up feeling cozy. We didn’t see bugs in our room, the sheets had no stains, and the TV and AC worked. The large fridge was clean, too. A sink detached from the bathroom and a closet gave the room a cute vibe. There were other people down the hall, though. We could’ve used some trash cans in the room, but for the price we were glad it was a good stay.

I’m traveling across the states and don’t mind budget motels, as long as they don’t defraud tourists. This place felt abandoned, and I’m shocked it can operate as a legitimate business. There were bugs, ants, and flies in the rooms, and half the advertised amenities were missing or didn’t work. Forget the microwave, coffee machines, or hair dryer. It offers nothing, and the advertising is misleading. It must be a joke, or a scam. I’ll report it to Booking. I don’t have time to bring this to the authorities, and I’m not an American citizen. I wish someone else would do it for me.

If I could give negative stars, I would. There was no front desk, and check-in meant going next door to the 8 hotel. The place was so dirty and felt unsafe, more like a drug dealer’s HQ. I cancelled my stay and went somewhere else.
