The breakfast setup was my biggest disappointment. Nothing is served at the property; instead, you get a gift certificate for a nearby hotel, where the reduced menu has only a few choices like oatmeal, French toast, and a small breakfast sandwich. Things such as bacon and toast cost extra. It felt cheap and really took away from the experience. For a bed and breakfast, I didn’t expect an off-site meal like that. The room was nice, but the bathroom had no door, just a curtain separating it from the bedroom, which felt awkward.

The owners were what made the stay special. They were kind and attentive, answered my questions quickly, and checked that the house was warm enough during an unusually cold spell. The bedding was so comfortable, some of the best sleep I’ve had in ages. The whole place was spotless and beautifully decorated, with a warm, welcoming feel from the moment I arrived. I’d happily return and recommend it for a quiet, cozy break, whether you’re on your own, with a partner, or just need to unwind.

We stayed in the giverny and loved the fireplace and luxurious whirlpool tub. The free chocolates were a nice touch, and our TV had streaming set up. The Victorian hotel is beautiful, the soft beds were comfortable, and the robes were probably the best I’ve used at a hotel. The walls are thin, but it was still fairly quiet. It’s close to the center of things, and we’ll definitely come back.

I appreciated that breakfast wasn’t served in the house. Rachelle and Eddie gave me gift cards for local places less than a 9-minute walk away, so I could get up whenever and eat between 8 and 2pm. Perfect. I stayed by myself and would gladly return. They were friendly and attentive while still giving everyone space, and their home was the respite I needed. Everything was walkable, including river trails and Houlton Hill. I don’t drink coffee, but coffee and other drinks were available just outside my room. If you like reading, there are four oversized chairs in the drawing room that are great for curling up with a book and a drink. There’s a library next door, with a terrace overlooking the river and adirondack chairs.
