Quality Inn & Suites Stillwater

The staff made us feel welcome from check-in through checkout, often greeting us with a smile, wave, or cheerful hello. I also enjoyed talking with the owner/manager on our first morning. He was covering both the front desk and breakfast area, made sure everything was in order, and treated me like a valued friend visiting his home. That welcoming feel made the visit really enjoyable, and I'll come back. We stayed two nights at Quality Inn Stillwater for my birthday and a motorcycle ride in the beautiful fall weather. The location is great, within walking distance of restaurants and Lift Bridge Brewery. Our neat, clean room was quiet, and I never heard the busy highway. The property is nice, with a front patio full of plants and flowers and a pleasant lobby for waiting for a ride or having coffee. The coffee is smooth, not bitter, and the fireplace looks lovely for winter. We mainly booked because it had a pool and hot tub and the best price in the area.

The rooms are clean, and the guy at the desk is friendly and cool. It's a good-vibe little spot, close to downtown and not far from the Twin Cities. Great value for the money, and I'd highly recommend it.

The whole place was really quiet, and my room was very clean. I had the king bed suite, with a chair, couch, and TV in the sitting area, plus another TV in the bedroom. The location might be fine if you have a vehicle, but mine was in the shop, so I had to walk or use Uber.

The beds weren't made properly, the room was extremely hot, and the tub was filthy. Outside, the hotel looked run-down and unappealing. Check-in was a mess too: I was told our room wasn't ready and wouldn't be until at least 3:30, while at least ten other guests were also waiting. When I looked concerned, the receptionist said, “What do you want me to do? You don't want a dirty room, that would make you mad.” There are luggage carts but no elevator to the second floor, and no automatic doors to make using a cart on your own possible. The pool was lukewarm at best and very outdated. If nearby hotels hadn't been booked, I would've left, but our group had driven two to five hours each way for a celebration and wasn't about to turn around. We cleaned the rooms ourselves. I'll never stay at this location again, and if I find another Choice hotel in this condition, I'll choose a different hotel chain.
