The Stony Brookside Bed & Bike Inn

Breakfast was homemade and delicious each day, which kept us going through a busy extended weekend. My whole family stayed in all the bedrooms and bathrooms, and the rooms felt homey, beautiful, spotless, and comfortable. The Inn sits in an idyllic spot overlooking the historic mill, with a neat lawn and gorgeous flower beds. Elyse and Marty were so warm and welcoming. We'll definitely stay here again.

Marty and Elyse shared helpful ideas for bike rides and local activities like farmers markets, and we were glad we joined one of Marty's historical bike tours. The backyard was a lovely place to stretch out and enjoy nature, and our room and bed were comfortable. Breakfast was good too. Since this was my first vacation since the pandemic began, I was a little nervous, but I felt comfortable with how Elyse and Marty handled hygiene and safety. I had a great time and plan to come back.

The Stony Brookside became our home base for getting the bridal party ready and taking wedding photos, both on the grounds and across the street by the lake and preserve. We were in town for our daughter's wedding at The Three Village Inn, just down the block, and Elyse and Marty made sure the bride, her four bridesmaids, and us parents had what we needed during our 3-4 day stay. The personalized care was second to none. Our bedrooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, clean, and had great A/C and views of the lake at Avalon Park and Preserve, the Stony Brook Grist Mill, and the surrounding area. The beds were very comfortable, and the private bathrooms came with thoughtful extras like soft, absorbent towels, hair dryers, sunscreen, shampoos, and lotions. The living and dining rooms were spacious, with a grand fireplace, original paintings and photographs, full bookshelves, and interesting art objects. Breakfasts and snacks were plentiful and delicious, including egg casseroles, fresh-baked muffins, fruit, cereal, and yogurt. Elyse also accommodated our individual tastes and requests perfectly. I highly recommend The Stony Brookside for comfortable, picturesque rooms, excellent service, lovely views, and an easy walk to attractions, shops, and restaurants.

We've stayed here several times over the years and love it. Elyse and Marty are wonderful hosts who make sure we're comfortable and refreshed. The nearby lake brings the sounds of ducks and geese, and there's bird watching at the estuary and mill behind the property. The place sits beside a protected nature reserve and is close to shops and restaurants. Bring a bike, pick a book from their collection, or walk to the beach and enjoy your trip.
