The Guild Hotel, San Diego Downtown, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The room and service were great, and we got both an upgrade and an early check-in. It was a calm, quiet location, yet we could walk to Gaslamp quarters, 5th ave restaurants, and little Italy. At the bar, the bartender clearly takes his work seriously and made an excellent Paloma. The black bean veggie burger and truffle fries were satisfying. I did wish the burger came with lettuce and onions or something similar, since it only had the patty and a chipotle kind of aioli, but it was still a great meal.

Bill made our stop at the lobby bar fun and got our drinks to us quickly. We both ordered the Paloma, a nice twist on the classic. The olive, pistachio and cheese trio and the margarita flatbread were both fantastic. Konstantina brought the food over and checked that we had everything else we needed. I'd stop in again for a good time.

Getting around is easy from here: Little Italy is just steps away, the waterfront is a short walk, and Gaslamp and downtown are close without the hotel being right in the noise. The Guild Hotel occupies a beautifully restored historic building, with its old character balanced by clean, modern touches. The staff were relaxed, friendly, and genuinely helpful. I liked the boutique feel, the design, and how walkable everything was. It suits couples, solo travelers, or anyone after a comfortable, refined stay with a sense of San Diego.

The bar staff were some of the kindest people I've met. They remembered me from one day to the next and went out of their way to help me feel good. I had a major personal issue come up during my stay, and everyone at the hotel treated me so nicely. It was an amazing stay, and I highly recommend the place.
