Legacy Resort Hotel & Spa

Several of us stayed overnight after our organization’s Christmas party at Legacy Resort Hotel, and the spacious, clean, modern rooms were a welcome bonus after a long night. We had about 75 guests for dinner and dancing, and the venue and setup worked really well for both. The atmosphere was just right, and our staff loved the food. Jerry, the Operations Manager, deserves a special mention. He was responsive and supportive while we planned the event and throughout the party, and his attention to detail helped everything run smoothly. The whole celebration went beautifully. We’re grateful for such a memorable holiday party and look forward to holding future events here.

We ended up packing up and moving to another hotel for the rest of our stay. It was a horrible experience all around, and definitely not worth the price. The first morning, we waited over 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot because police cars were blocking the exit during an arrest. We were late to the appointment we’d come to town for. The $38-a-night self-parking fee wasn’t clearly advertised, and I was surprised by it at check-in. The lot wasn’t in a locked garage or behind a gate, and it was next to a homeless encampment. At night I saw people with stolen items coming through the lot and looking into cars several times. Some women who looked sketchy would wait at the hotel’s side entrance. I felt unsafe walking to my car at night without my husband. The view from our room was the lot and encampment. Check-in was very slow, and the man at the desk was rude. When I raised my concerns, the woman at the front desk was nice, but she didn’t contact management. She removed the parking charge and let us check out. The room was noisy at night, with doors opening and closing that we could hear, and the blackout curtains didn’t close all the way, so the morning sun came straight in.

The pool was great, though cold for that time of year, which didn’t bother me. The hot tub was excellent, warm and big enough for a lot of people. The pool area could’ve been cleaned sooner, though. On our first day, there were used towels and garbage left by guests from the day or night before. We were visiting friends and doing local activities with my bestie and goddaughter. The hotel was right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was pretty nice, and the strong clean smell as you walked in was pleasant. Maybe something was placed near the vents, or perhaps the cleaner sprays it, or it could be an automatic air freshener. The staff seemed great, and there’s a restaurant, though we didn’t try it. We walked just a few minutes to the “spa,” looked over the offerings, and had a quick walk-through. For the money, we didn’t feel it added much value. I also didn’t like paying to park each day. Those petty fees feel like a slap in the face. We had a good stay otherwise, but the fees stunk.

Everyone was very friendly, and the location made it easy to get to SeaWorld and downtown. The rooms were clean, and Theresa‘s Italian restaurant had really good food. When I called room service for ice, the gentleman noticed we needed some for our ice chest, took the whole thing, filled it, and brought it back to our room. The lobby was beautiful.
