Abpopa Hillcrest

I've just finished my second stay at Abpopa, which says a lot for an affordable spot in such a great Hillcrest location. I first booked it because I needed somewhere inexpensive while I was in town for a concert, and it did the job. The rooms are awkwardly laid out, though. The TV sits in the middle facing the sink, and the efficiency bathroom is plonked right in the room without a proper doorway to separate it. There are also little touch-ups the place could use. It’s no luxury stay, and nobody claims it is, but for the price and location it’s hard to beat.

The loft bed was such a fun feature, and waking up to Hillcrest views was lovely. This is a great neighborhood, with shops, bars, and restaurants close by, and it's easy to walk to nearby areas. Our room had a gorgeous patio and came stocked with towels, personal care items, and even an electric tea kettle. Getting into the property and our room was easy. If you're after a cool, chic place in a cute part of San Diego, I'd definitely recommend it.

I loved the comfortable bed, soft pillows, and heavenly down comforter. The rooms are big, with lots of windows and beautiful views of the surrounding area. There's a cool, minimalist modern feel, and everything you need is there. You're right in the middle of Hillcrest, just two short blocks from Mo's bar and grill and hash house agogo. The air-conditioning worked perfectly, and the price is hard to beat for this location.

We loved the place, and its location is excellent. The only problem was a party upstairs, with loud music and people dancing. The noise from the dancing kept reverberating through the ceiling. I think the building needs better noise control. It wasn't until we messaged the concierge that they spoke to the party, around 3 a.m.
