Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

The rooms were spotless, the quiet spaces lovely, and the dining options were excellent at all hours. The whole property is beautifully designed, with a peaceful, nature-surrounded hacienda feel. It felt like finding a perfect oasis, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. Lorenzo at the registration desk deserves special thanks. He was warm, thoughtful, and professional, and made sure our stay went perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better visit. This is our go-to spot in San Diego. Thank you!

The property itself is nice, but the service left me disappointed. At checkout, I asked whether incidental charges could go on a separate card. The front desk agent said she couldn't do it without trying to help or suggest another option. When I asked why, she scoffed and spoke to me in a belittling, unprofessional way. I also heard the pool bar attendant making comments about other guests. They came across as inappropriate and unwelcoming, and it was uncomfortable to hear staff speak negatively about guests. In my experience, staff conduct often reflects management and the culture it sets. Better training and more focus on guest service could make this a much better experience.

We loved wandering the grounds, having mocktails, eating good food, and relaxing in the chairs. It feels like its own little oasis, with the beach nearby, great amenities, and plenty to explore. We stayed for a local getaway, but I think it would work well for visitors too. It's also very close to the Torrey pines glideport. I'd definitely recommend it.

The heated salt water pool was a plus, as were the lobby music and fireplaces. Jason the bar tender was amazing and so helpful. The grounds are pretty but large enough to make finding your way around difficult, and the signs and room markers weren't well lit. Breakfast was frustrating. The restaurant quoted a 45-minute wait despite many empty tables, so we tried the cafe/gift shop. They were out of most breakfast sandwiches and nearly out of burritos, and the drinks came with wrong names and incorrect orders. Reception was understaffed too, with long waits to ask about the area. Families will likely find it friendly, though school breaks may bring more noise than some guests want. For San Diego sightseeing, it wouldn't be my preferred location because it's quite far from Balboa Park and downtown. Downtown La Jolla is pretty and very upscale. We found a great sushi spot called Shuki in La Jolla Village, which I highly recommend.
