Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lancaster East - Strasburg by IHG

Breakfast was fresh and well stocked, with the usual Holiday Inn Express selection. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff stayed friendly, welcoming, and helpful during our visit. The location felt safe and made it easy to explore the Lancaster and Strasburg area. We had a very pleasant stay and would gladly come back.

The indoor pool was a good size and open from 9 am to 10 pm, and the fitness room had a water cooler. Breakfast was included from 6 to 9 am, with sausage patties and links, scrambled eggs, an omelet, yogurt, bagels, muffins, milk, juices, and a self-serve pancake station. I’d skip the orange juice, though, it had a strange plastic taste. I was vacationing in the Lancaster area with my family. The room was clean and had space to eat and work on a laptop. I’d strongly recommend staying here.

The hotel itself was nice, with large rooms, a comfortable bed, and a clean space. I’m rating it low because I chose it based on its advertised electric vehicle charging, which wasn’t actually available. When I asked at the front desk, the woman said charging cost $35 per session, a flat fee that seemed ludicrous to me. Restricting use to current guests or charging by the kilowatt hour would make more sense, but a flat rate could be workable. I found the chargers, but although their lights came on, they supplied no power. Their QR code said they weren’t configured to accept payment. I recognized the machine and called the support number. Epic Charging customer service told me the property management company had ended its contract with them and the machines were disabled. It felt like a bait and switch to book based on charging being advertised and then find it unavailable. If that doesn’t matter to you, it’s a nice hotel.

The hotel is a good base for seeing Noah at Sight and Sound Theater. It’s in the beautiful Amish countryside, and the continental breakfast is filling. The fitness center had working weights and treadmills, and the water was hot. The towels and bed sheets were crisp white. It was clean, too.
