The village has a classic New England feel, with plenty of shops and restaurants, and the base lodge is lovely, though crowded enough that more seating would help. Food was surprisingly good for a ski resort, with lots of tasty choices. Stratton is a great family friendly resort in Southern Vernont, within a convenient drive of many major cities nearby. Only the main base was open when I visited, but there were still plenty of trails and lifts running. The gondola is roomy, and my wait was never more than 15 minutes. Big thanks to the American Express queue staff for organizing the line, loading chairs fully, and keeping waits down. Early season trails were nice, if a bit icy, which is what you’d expect on the east coast. There are runs for every ability, greens throughout the mountain, and more blacks and double blacks near the peak for advanced and expert skiers. The village drop off area was neat, under a platform with stairs leading up to the village. A great place to bring the family.
