Holiday Inn Cleveland Strongsville Arpt

The food was the one good part of the place. I was there for a week-long craft retreat, and the hotel, now called "Best Western Plus," was a serious disappointment. Both main elevators were out for the entire week, and the backup elevator’s ceiling was propped up with two shelving brackets. The rooms were incredibly dark. The second night, during a snow and rain storm, ceilings collapsed in the ballroom, outside the simmering pot restaurant, and in the bar. The indoor pool stayed closed the whole time, even though its lights and ceiling fans were on. Someone told me it was because a person had drowned, but I don’t know if that’s true. Rooms have small fridges, though not all have microwaves. Pick somewhere else. This place wasn’t worth the price.

The rooms were clean and kept up, with current furnishings, crisp linens, and really soft towels. The hallways and some shared spaces felt dated, though, and the hotel itself has an older feel. The staff were caring and attentive. The bar shuts early, which isn’t unusual for a hotel bar. The breakfast restaurant had a nice buffet, but I didn’t check out the menu.

We found the room comfortable, with soft pillows and a cozy bed. It was clean and there were no bugs. Some structural damage was visible, but for the Priceline price it wasn’t a deal breaker. We were there for a one-night anniversary getaway on Halloween, and since we’re local, having no food or breakfast because of the pandemic wasn’t an issue. What bothered us was learning about the $100 deposit only when we checked in. That should be mentioned at booking. There was also no way to fill the bathtub, though the shower worked fine and had hot water. Decent enough for a night or two.

The elevator was unnerving, with lots of noise, doors that didn’t fully close while it moved, and a smell that made it seem like something electrical was going on. We took the stairs most of the time, even though we were on the fifth floor. Check-in was busy, but the staff stayed cheerful. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the shower had great pressure. The hotel is close to everything. Apart from that elevator, it’s a great place.
