We celebrated our 43rd anniversary at the Publick House last night, after looking forward to it for a couple of weeks. My family has been coming to its restaurants for all sorts of special occasions for nearly 40 years, and we plan to keep going, but this visit was a letdown. My husband had been talking about prime rib, only to be told when we ordered that it had run out at lunchtime. The drinks were weak, so I switched to wine, but they didn't have white zinfandel and I got Riesling instead. My husband asked for a rare strip steak, which came out medium. For the complete meal, I had soup and salad, and he had soup and dessert. My butternut squash soup was too sweet, though the spinach salad with cranberries, walnuts, goat cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette was wonderful. At dessert, he asked for the turtle cheesecake we'd seen in the bakery on arrival, but was told it wasn't available with the meal. The Publick House is still part of our tradition, and we'll return. It's just too bad we can't count on the top-notch experience we used to have.

The event room was thoughtfully arranged, and the breakfast buffet was beautiful, with delicious waffles, pecan rolls, sausage, eggs, and bacon. We hosted a meeting for a regional New England club here, and the staff who helped us on site were communicative, sweet, and wonderful to work with. The banquet team in the office was just as helpful, and prices were very reasonable. Weather concerns meant we had to reschedule, but their inclement weather policy was reasonable and they were easy to reach throughout. Getting on and off the highway was easy, too. Since it's a big building and I'd never been there, I suggest giving guests directions on which entrance and parking lot to use, and how to find the room, to avoid confusion. Thanks for a great experience. I'd recommend them going forward.

The front dining room felt cozy and intimate for our holiday meal. We were seated right on time for Thanksgiving dinner, and the special buffet had a great range of dishes. The turkey was juicy and the highlight for me, though I also really liked the green beans with mushroom sauce and the fresh apple salad. The pies were yummy, and I took an apple pie home. I also bought some pecan rolls, which were served warm and are a must-try. Highly recommend!

Having hotel rooms on site made the whole wedding weekend easy and extra special for us and our guests. The location is stunning, the food was perfect, and bar service was seamless and generous. Our service team was phenomenal: Lauren Gonzalez, our Banquet Captain/Server, was wonderful, and Grace Gamelli, Lindsay Kularski, Robert Viera, and Laura Polizoti gave impeccable service. Charlie Callahan and Brett St. Onge kept the bar running smoothly and guests happy all night. The team at The Publick House made the day stress-free and beautifully executed. Everyone we worked with was kind, professional, organized, and genuinely invested in making our wedding special. Diana Gendreau, our Catering Sales Manager, guided us through planning with expertise and warmth. Jon Pensinger, our Banquet Manager, kept everything on track, and Kaylee Ceppetelli, our Wedding Assistant, was attentive and helpful all day. We can't say enough about the experience. The Publick House exceeded our expectations, and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue with great hospitality and heart.

The downstairs dining room is so loud that it makes a quiet dinner and conversation hard. The service was OK, though we had to ask twice for another round of drinks. I ordered the pot roast while out to dinner with friends. It was just so-so, and I left disappointed because I expected much more from this restaurant given its reputation and image in the community.
