We’ve been coming here ever since it was built, and it’s our favorite place to stay in Door County. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the indoor pool has to be the biggest of any resort in the county. We love being in Sturgeon Bay, with places to eat and whatever kind of shopping you need. The resort sits right on the harbor, with picturesque views, especially if you like watching ships being built, like we do.

Families and repeat visitors seem to like Bridgeport Waterfront Resort in Sturgeon Bay for its roomy suites, pool options, and waterfront setting. The one, two, and three bedroom suites often have full kitchens, whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, and private balconies looking toward the water or historic bridge. Guests often find the rooms clean, comfortable, and good value for the space. The resort has heated indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor children's splash park and play area, and a fitness center. There’s complimentary coffee and juice in the lobby, along with in room options and convenient guest laundry facilities. A waterfront walking path leads to the Door County Maritime Museum, and a nearby city park has a beach and playground. Sonny's Pizzeria is next door, and the resort partners with several local restaurants for guest discounts. Staff are generally described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Some guests have mentioned dated decor, 1990s style furnishings, and older carpets in some units. Older reviews also mention occasional maintenance problems, like noisy dishwashers or inconsistent air conditioning, though many recent reviews describe clean, updated rooms. With dining and attractions easy to reach on foot, it’s often recommended for a comfortable stay with plenty of amenities.

The service felt pretty minimal during our two night stay, with staff doing what was needed but none of the warmth we’re used to at other hotels and resorts. We were a family of four on a last minute Door County trip to finish up spring break, and the stay was fair overall, but we won’t return. Before arriving, we called about early check in and were told it wasn’t available, which we understood. The resort looked nearly empty when we got there, with about 8 cars in the lot. It was quiet, which we appreciated, but clearly not full. On Easter Sunday, our last day, we asked to check out at noon and were told they couldn’t accommodate us because too many guests had already been given that option. That surprised us, since there were only about four cars in the lot by then. At 11:00 a.m., the front desk called to ask if we had checked out. We were already in the process of leaving, but the call felt unnecessary and rushed, and made us feel a bit targeted. We only wanted a little flexibility and courtesy, and that was missing. It was our first and last stay at Bridgeport, and now we wonder what it’s like in the busy season.

The view was the only good part of our Valentine's weekend stay. The bed was hard as a rock, and the room was dirty, with fingerprints on the mirrors and windows. We covered the sofa with a sheet, and the jetted tub was dirty too. There was no sauna, despite it being advertised. The front desk staff were either absent or rude when we asked questions, not very resort like at all. Overpriced for no reason.

The views are great, the bed is comfortable, and there’s plenty of closet and storage space. The kitchenette is handy, and the staff are extremely helpful. The decor feels a bit old, though, and the towels are scratchy and worn out.
