Wayside Carriage House Inn

Breakfast was delicious, hot, and had a good range of choices, and the coffee was just right. The staff were lovely too, kind and flexible throughout. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

They let me check in really early and gave me an extra hour before checkout, which I appreciated. The hallway, though, smelled awful, like an old cat or a wet animal. A large dog in a nearby room barked loudly on and off during both day and night. I never mentioned either issue to management.

The lady at the front desk was friendly, and the Fairfield Inn Boston Sudbury looked nice. Our room seemed great at first, too. Then we got into bed and saw large red stains, like blood, showing through the fresh sheets because the mattresses were so dirty. We told the front desk right away. They offered blankets to cover the marks and said we could move to a suite the next night. The next morning, nobody mentioned the suite. Instead, they wanted to spend hours in our room remaking the beds “properly.” No thanks. At this price, that was completely unacceptable.

After hiking 20 miles from Concord to Sudbury on the Bay circuit Trail, we were glad to find our room 322 had both things we requested, a tub and a spot near the elevator. It was spacious, very clean, and everything worked. Check-in came with cookies, and the coffee, tea, and hot coco station was available all night. Breakfast was a highlight, with much more choice than most continental spreads: oatmeal and parfait fixings, waffles, breads, cereal in three types, hot food, drinks, milk, and condiments. Everything was really tasty. The people were kind and helpful. We had blisters from the hike and they offered medical supplies. There’s usually just one staff member at night, and they may be away from the desk, but we never had to wait. I’d happily come back.
