Courtyard Suffolk Chesapeake

The updated facility was very clean, and the rooms were nice and efficient. I enjoyed the staff, who were well represented. Having a mini fridge and microwave was a plus. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d go there again.

I stayed in room 202 for two weeks in November 2025 and found bed bugs there. Unfortunately, the bite marks didn’t show up until checkout day. I had to throw away my suitcase and clothes, then pay an exterminator for my house. Over the next three weeks, I called the hotel several times. Employees said the manager would call me back, but nobody did. I always had to make the calls myself. I also posted a complaint on Marriott’s site and only got an email saying they’d look into it. I never heard back from anyone at the hotel or Marriott, and I’m upset that nobody contacted me.

Ants were in room 226 from the start of my stay at Marriott Suffolk Chesapeake, from Friday, 9/26 to Monday, 9/29. I tried to overlook them, but on the last night they were on the bed where my children, ages 7 and 9, were sleeping. That’s unacceptable for any hotel, especially one with the Marriott name. At checkout, I politely told Tiffany at the front desk so the problem could be addressed. She just said “okay” dismissively, then told me, “well, I don’t work in housekeeping,” as if I’d accused her personally. I was reporting a serious cleanliness issue, and her response was rude and disrespectful instead of professional or concerned. I should have listened to the other reviews about poor front desk service. Between the ants in the bed and the lack of courtesy, I left completely dissatisfied and regretted choosing this location.

The hotel was conveniently located within a mile of my work training, but I won’t stay here again. My room had an old, dirty side chair and a strange shower chair in the accessible bathroom. When I asked to move, the front desk clerk said there were no other rooms, even though the parking lot was half full. All he could do was remove the shower chair and offer me a bag of chips. The shower area was old and filthy, with rust and dirty grout. It needs remodeling as soon as possible.
