Hampton Inn Clinton

I’m a Diamond member and only stay with Hilton Brands, but this hotel and its staff weren't up to Hilton standards. Hilton should consider selling it to a budget brand. My card was charged for the room, taxes, and an early check-in fee 30 minutes before I even arrived, though I never asked for or agreed to that fee. I've checked in a little early at many Hilton hotels over the last year without being charged extra. The coffee pot in the room was dirty, the mini-fridge temperature couldn't be adjusted, and the lobby coffee was warm at 8am when it should have been hot. Some breakfast food looked old. Also, this is a smoking hotel, with a choice of smoking or non-smoking rooms, and pets are allowed.

This was poor all around, and not worthy of Hilton. The rooms were dated, the TVs small and old, and there were bugs, including stink bugs and nests. Management did nothing to refund our stay. There were no luggage carts at check-in, and the staff seemed apathetic toward guests. I'm an Honors Gold Member and expected better. Find somewhere better for your money.

The rooms were very clean, though they felt a little lived in. They were still perfectly serviceable, with a large mini-fridge and a microwave. The staff were great, too, with quick, polite check-in and a very helpful man at the free hot buffet. The location is handy, right by the highway and Walmart.

I've stayed here many times on trips to North Jersey as a Hilton Honors Member, and the place and rooms have always been neat and clean. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and there’s plenty of convenient free parking. It's just off Interstate Route 78 and Route 31. Breakfast is free, and hot coffee and tea are always available in the lobby, though there isn't a restaurant in the hotel. Cracker Barrel is right next door and has very good food. Downtown Clinton is close, too, with plenty of places to eat, including a delicious pizza shop and Chinese takeout. I highly recommend it.
