There was a big roach scurrying across the main room when I got up to use the bathroom on our second night. Housekeeping hadn’t checked in, so my husband asked them to empty the garbage and vacuum. When we came back, they’d only taken the bag I’d left beside their bin, and the bin itself was still full. No bed turndown or anything, either. We’re a family with two small kids, trying to take a road trip to at least one lake a year. When I first booked the cabin, algae had basically made the lake off-limits, which defeated the whole point for our little ones who wanted to swim. I canceled and could only get about half the money back, as a gift certificate, which we finally used. On arrival, the room seemed clean, but the cabins were much closer together than the booking photos made them look. The actual lake access was a tiny, not very clean strip of “beach.” It seemed set up more for boats than families coming to swim. Given all that and what these cabins cost, we probably won’t return.

We had a GREAT time here and my wife and I will definitely come back, maybe in the next couple of months. The location right on the water is AMAZING!! My only concern was getting our boat and trailer down the ramp, which is very narrow. I also LOVE having outlets at the slips for charging boat batteries, but not all of them work, so you have to move from slip to slip.

The pool was nice, but I wish I could give this place zero stars. My mom and I stayed here in 2017 and had a bad time. The place was run down, the room smelled like dog urine, Erin at the front desk was VERY rude, and the air conditioning couldn’t keep up when it was 110 degrees outside. I also didn’t like Clearlake, CA. It was unbearably hot, windows around town were broken, graffiti was EVERYWHERE, and there were hoodlums on every corner. The lake was filthy and polluted too, like all people in Clearlake do is throw trash into it. Clearlake Cottages & Marina must be shut down!!!

Sorry this review is late! We’ve stayed here several times, always in 20, and Bob treats us like family. He and his staff are the bomb. Last time, my son brought a friend and Bob gave them fishing bait, which won both my son and my fiancé over. My fiancé needed to ship a work package, and after we checked out Bob tracked us down to bring it to us. We couldn’t find it, thanks to my motor-mouth son bonding with Bob and telling him where we were headed next. We really appreciate the hospitality at Clearlake cottage!

A peaceful spot to get away from the city bustle. The lake is right beyond the backyard, a lovely view to have with morning coffee.
