The fire department had been called to the hotel three times in less than 12 hours, and the chief told us we’d have had a better experience sleeping in our vehicle. The alarm went off twice overnight and a third time while we were getting ready to leave. We were staying on the second floor on the way to Norfolk for our cruise, and it smelled strange there. A front desk sign said “no marijuana,” but the whole place smelled like a family of skunks having a party. As we left our room, we had to tiptoe with our luggage around vomit someone had left down the hallway. We asked for the manager, who conveniently wasn’t there, and the fire department was asking to speak with him too. I wouldn’t recommend this place and will never return.

A breakdown forced us to stay an extra night. The staff were pleasant and attentive, and our room was clean with a nice smell. The river view was spectacular. I did fall because the tub floor was very slippery, and the room’s HVAC needs replacing along with a general refresh.

I came from out of state to spend my wedding anniversary here, and the stay was very pleasant. I’ve booked this location twice since then and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Suffolk.

In three Virginia cities, this is the only place that’s made me feel at home. The atmosphere is peaceful, clean, and friendly, and everyone was compassionate and polite. Save your money and time. We’d booked and paid through Booking.com, then called ahead and confirmed. When we arrived, we were told the reservation had been canceled, with no notice between the confirmation call and our arrival. We were charged 500% more than the agreed price. Just don’t.
