This is a perfect spot for a real ski-in/ski-out condo. For the easiest route to the top of an intermediate slope, I highly recommend building 9 or 10.

Unit 426 was updated, clean, and had everything we needed. I’m happy with the room itself, which seems to reflect the owner’s care. The problem was getting to it safely. My daughter and I fell several times on the icy walkway, and she could only make it by crawling. The parking lot had more than an inch of ice, and the path to the slopes looked like it hadn’t been cleared for days. It was above freezing most of the day, with ice melting off the lifts, so this seemed to be there well before the major ice event staff mentioned. When we first raised it, we were told staff had already left for the day. We complained again and pointed out that waiting until the next day, when the forecast high was 12, could make it worse. Eventually someone agreed to come out, but the office was empty by at least 4:30, despite the claim of 24-hour coverage, and the original path still hadn’t been addressed. We chose this location for access to the slopes and the chance to ski in and ski out. Two stars feels fair if that only works when there’s no snow, cold, or ice.
The pool, hot tub, and sauna were lovely, and the staff were courteous. We stayed five nights the week before Christmas, and snowmaking meant we could ski in and out from the rooms near the top of a slope. We’d stay at Sugar Ski Country Club again, but I’d choose a different unit. We were in 535. The kitchen was very dated and needed repairs, and the wood fireplace couldn’t be used because, I was told, the fire marshal no longer allowed them. Our gate code also failed one night, leaving us stuck outside. Friends paid the same as we did for a freshly updated unit with an electric fireplace, granite counters, and current appliances, so the differences between units are pretty significant. The cleaning company said it couldn’t find an item of value we’d left, but it was eventually found and staff mailed it to us. I’d recommend finding one of the updated units. There are plenty of photos on the website, and I wouldn’t let this review put you off the property altogether.
Gina was first class and helped us out so much. Our condo in building 8 was just the right size, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and getting from the room to the ski area was pretty easy, probably under 75 yards. There’s lots of good food nearby. Bella's Italian restaurant was crazy good, especially the chicken wings and pizza. Peddling Pig is close for BBQ, and Stonewalls is just down the road, with a great salad bar and really good steaks. Food lion can pick your groceries, so you can just stop to collect them. There’s also ski rental and ski related shopping right in the area.
We had a great time in unit 433 at the end of January 2022. It was clean, and the online description matched what we found. The place is a good fit if you’re planning to ski in and out at Sugar, and the new pool, hot tub, and sauna are really nice. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. We had only four towels for six guys, but they brought more within two hours of our call. I’d recommend staying here, as long as you keep expectations in check. It’s nice and clean, but not fancy or extravagant.
