Sumas Mountain Lodge

We were just passing through on our way to Chilliwak to pick up some E-Bikes, and got in around 8:15pm. The staff, who also run the restaurant downstairs, had us laughing as soon as we arrived. The welcome was great, and the rooms were awesome for the price. Sorry to let this cat out of the bag, but booking here through expedia is cheaper. Anyway, it’s an awesome place to stay!

We picked this place for a concert in Abbottsord, B.C., and had coffee on our private balcony while looking out at the mountains. The rooms are separated enough that you get complete privacy. Inside, ours was very clean, private, and comfortable, with a large jetted bathtub and plenty of hot water. There’s also an AC / heater unit and a ceiling fan. The restaurant downstairs had delicious burgers and salads. Just be aware there’s no elevator, so it may not work for someone with mobility issues.

The room and service were great. My only reason for giving 4 rather than 5 stars was the restaurant. A worker who was brand new kept having to go into the kitchen to ask someone because she wasn’t sure what to do. There’s nothing wrong with being new, but why wasn’t a manager or another worker shadowing her and giving her proper training instead of just throwing her into it? That wasn’t fair to the customer or the worker.

We were driving home from Seattle in a torrential downpour and needed a hotel at the last minute. There aren’t many options around, so we were really glad to find this place. We arrived pretty late but caught the team before they closed for the night, and everyone stayed late to accommodate us. The hotel is cute and clean, my kids loved the bunk beds, and the attached restaurant was great. Thanks to everyone who helped us out.
