Motel 6 Murfreesboro, TN

We were left out in the cold at 4:00 PM during one of Tennessee's coldest storms, with nowhere to go. Before that, the owner had raised the price by $30 when I called to ask if we could return to the room where our belongings still were. He also tried to charge a deposit for our service animals, which was inappropriate and discriminatory. We had caused no damage, had not destroyed the room, and are not drug users. I have photos of the room's condition if needed. The trouble started Friday night, when we booked and paid for a room but were made to pay again because of confusion on their end. We didn't have that money to spare. My brother tried to help by paying over the phone for more nights, but then we were told we couldn't stay Sunday because my name wasn't on the card. We had to pay yet again to keep the room. On Monday, I asked about the room my brother had already paid for. The owner said he'd check into it while we waited for mail from our lawyer, so we could pay for Monday and Tuesday if the credit wasn't applied. The credit was never honored. This showed no compassion, professionalism, or basic decency. Repeated charges, a denied credit, a price increase, and making people leave in freezing weather are unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially to families or anyone facing hardship.

There were people outside asking for cigarettes or a lighter, and the room itself was in rough shape. The floors were really dirty, the TV was blurry on every channel, and the door wouldn't quite shut, letting cold air in. I had to fight with the deadbolt to lock it. The mattresses were horrible and uncomfortable, the pillows flat, and the blankets had burn holes. For under $100 a night, I guess you get what you pay for. I won't stay here again.

The location is excellent, which is the best thing I can say. I'd ask for a second-floor room if you stay here, since I heard noise from the room above me all four nights, even after midnight. It seemed strange for motel guests. I suspect some people who work there may live there. I also saw a school bus drop off a boy, and it seemed unlikely a guest on a trip would move around so much in a small room.

Rooms are small, but that's the trade-off for a clean, cheap place. I had a great experience overall. 😁
