Comfort Suites Summerville

The hotel was clean and the location was very nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. Kipp at the front desk made the experience awful. He was nasty, spoke to me like I was a dog, and seemed a bit racist. He also said the organization was privately owned. The night shift clerk, either Mrs. Grace or Joyce, was welcoming and warm. After I’d already asked staff what to do with the rose petals in the room, Kipp made unauthorized charges to my card for leaving them. He was aggressive and rude, and the interaction left me feeling very uneasy. He shouldn’t be working in customer service.

The pool was a little small, but it was clean. The hotel is in a busy area, and I appreciated having shops and restaurants close enough to walk to if we wanted. I didn’t walk, but it was nice not having to drive out onto the main road. Our room was clean and well equipped, and every staff member we met was kind and tried to help. Good service like that seems less common lately, so I really appreciated it. Management deserves credit too.

We loved our stay and highly recommend the place. Publix is just around the corner for groceries, along with Walmart and BJ’s Wholesale. I’ve shared my review in my video.

The room had a particular smell, sort of laundry detergent mixed with corn chips. It didn’t stink, but it didn’t smell fresh like the immaculate lobby, which smelled amazing and clean. Maybe use whatever you use there in the rooms. Some lights in 219 didn’t work, and the wires should be checked for safety. Water draining from nearby rooms was VERY loud, though closing the bathroom door helped. We were confused by the sound at first and aren’t sure it can be fixed. The staff were welcoming and wonderful, and Bob at the front desk was a ray of sunshine. Rooms and beds were clean, with comfortable pillows and fresh sheets. Breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold food, including waffles, pancakes, eggs, sausage, muffins, pastries, cereal, yogurt, grits, oatmeal, fruit, and drinks, and it all tasted good. The location is surrounded by shops and places to eat, and Waffle House and Walmart are walkable. The outdoor pool and gym were beautiful. They offered to move us because of the issues, but we didn’t mind enough to take them up on it. We enjoyed our stay, and fixing those small things would make it even better.
