Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Sunbury - Columbus Area by IHG

When the check engine light started blinking about an hour into my work drive from Ohio to Florida, this was the closest safe hotel I could reach. They got me a room for the night, with a clean space, a well lit lot, and suggestions for a local mechanic. One night turned into three over Memorial weekend, and the front desk staff helped extend my stay and suggested things to do in Sunbury during my unexpected free time. Laura in housekeeping was so kind, made sure I had the essentials each day, and was happy to help even when my room wasn’t assigned to her. The laundry and pool areas were immaculate.

I booked for 9/3 to 9/4, but somehow it ended up as 9/13 to 9/14, dates when I didn’t need a room and wouldn’t be in town. I called as soon as I noticed the booking error and asked for a refund, but Katrina, the manager, declined without giving a reason, even after leaving me several messages. Now I have to drive to another city and state so the money won’t go to waste. Becky at the front desk tried everything she could to help. I’ve never had this kind of experience with a hotel.

It was 9:30 and we hadn’t checked out yet when housekeeping came right into the room without knocking. We were changing. The staff acted so unprofessionally. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Avoid Room 105. I got bitten two nights in a row, and they were definitely bed bugs. The woman at the front desk said they were mosquito bites, and instead of believing me they just brushed it off. That makes it seem like they’re not dealing with the problem.
