I’ve lived in three condos here, and the side you choose makes a difference. The south side is calmer, with excellent views and interiors that don’t get hot. East-facing units have direct views but can get strong winds, and the master bedroom gets extremely hot until around noon because the balcony doesn’t shade it. The north side can feel dark from all the balcony shade. Since hurricanes rotate counterclockwise, the north side is generally the one to avoid in Miami. The valet ladies are always friendly. The building is a solid 4/5, and I think its price for the quality is the best among oceanfront residential condos built less than 20 years ago. It’s next to the historic Newport hotel, which is undergoing a $40 million transformation program, and bars provide discounts to La Perla residents. The building was built after 2005, up to the modern Florida code that took effect after Hurricane Andrew in the 1990s.

The gym has a very good view of the pier and shore, and the employees are nice and hard-working, though most don’t speak English. Still, this place feels understaffed, with too many rules and too few services compared with other Sunny Isles developments. Amenities are almost nonexistent by Sunny Isles standards. There are always short-term renters, so it has a tourist feel. Even residents have to pay for guest parking, which I’ve never heard of elsewhere. Parking is $20 a day on holidays. The pool and TV room close at 10, while the gym stays open until 11.

We’re renting here for the whole year and feel happy and safe. The people who live and work here are nice, and the valet and manager are very kind. Office staff and the front desk are friendly and polite, and even their emails are written so nicely. Small issues like elevator problems or busy valet service on holidays happen in all Sunny Isles buildings, I think. They do a very good job keeping this place in great condition. It’s clean and organized.

The views and location are great. I also love the 25% discount at the pier restaurant, plus beach service from the restaurant next door.

The valet parking is horrible. The way they handle and drive your car is unacceptable.
