Maple Tree Inn

The breakfast is basic but has enough to choose from: toast and pastries, apples or oranges, eggs with ham or peppers, rice and soup, Chobani yogurts, and a pancake machine that’s fun to watch. The rate also includes parking, so the value is very good. The rooms are a decent size, and I found the beds and pillows comfortable. My shower had a problem, though, it only gave hot water no matter how I set the temperature. I could hear occasional conversations next door through the thin walls. The corridor carpets are worn and caught my luggage wheels a few times, so the place could use some renovation. It’s a modest, comfortable hotel that delivers what it promises, without pretending to be a luxury property.

The dog in the next room barked constantly, and nobody seemed to do anything about it. The laundry room’s restricted hours were frustrating, too. After my meeting it was closed, and the young female staff members were chatting and refused to help. They said they didn’t have the key and told me to return the next day or wait until midnight for the shift change. Once the shift changed, a male staff member said the key had been in the drawer the whole time. That felt completely irresponsible and dishonest. The front desk service was the worst part of an already extremely bad stay. My room was old and poorly maintained, with a dirty air conditioner, broken phone, torn towels and a strong unpleasant smell. Poor management, poor service and no accountability. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

The internet was painfully slow, and the refrigerator made an irritating noise all night without stopping. I was put in a connected room, where the people next door were screaming while they talked. I reported it to the front desk, but nothing was done. The walls are so thin you can hear normal conversations. For what I paid, it wasn’t worth it. Don’t let the 3 star rating set your expectations.

The bathroom odor came back a few hours after flushing. I could also hear the people next door talking very clearly because the soundproofing is so poor. If sleeping well matters, I wouldn’t stay here. I can’t recommend this hotel.
