Motel 6 Sunnyvale, CA - South

In all my travels around the world, this was the worst motel stay I’ve had. They rented rooms without keys, then told people to leave the room unlocked and a window open so they could crawl in. Guests were stranded outside their rooms until 12:30 am. The staff’s attitude was basically, if you don’t like it, call the police, who were useless too. They ruined the weekend for a lot of people. This place is a Firetrap and Deathtrap and should be fined and investigated. The staff were incompetent.

The staff were rude when I reported bedbugs. They said they hadn’t found any and that I needed to check out, which felt like they were calling me a liar. I have a picture of one, and bedbug bites on my leg. Worst hotel ever.

Check-in and checkout were both easy, and the housekeeping staff were nice. The pool was clean, too. The rooms are very clean, though small, and there’s no fridge. Still, they’re fine for a quick trip or short stay. There’s no breakfast, but Hobbes and Denny's are within walking distance. It’s a good location, although many nearby places close early. I took off a star because it can get loud, and the curtains don’t block the light at night.

I’d reserved a room and received confirmation, but when I arrived they said the system was down and there were no rooms. It was Saturday at 11pm, and I was tired after driving from Reno, with no idea whether I’d find anywhere else to stay that late on a weekend. Reservations are less expensive than paying in person, so I believe they may have wanted more money from walk-in customers. If there were no rooms, why did he take my ID and look me up in the system? What’s the point of making a reservation? So frustrating.
