The front desk staff were genuinely kind, always smiling, and quick to replace a key when I got locked out. Dogs are allowed, which is a plus, though I think the fee is $25 a night for pets that aren’t service dogs. Still, I wouldn’t call this a three-star place. It’s cheap, but there’s a reason for that. What bothered me most was feeling like someone was entering my room while I was out. I came back around 6 p.m. to find a dirty dustpan on the bedside table, then returned at 7 p.m. to find chewed gum by the door that hadn’t been there when I left. I asked the desk who was going in and leaving trash. They told me the law allowed that kind of entry and I shouldn’t worry. I can’t say anything was taken, but it made me feel watched, so I stopped leaving valuables in the room. There isn’t even a safe. The security setup seemed to get more attention than housekeeping. There was a strong mix of smoke and urine odor at the west end of the hall, while my room smelled of Pine-Sol. That was a relief until I noticed old fries on the air conditioner and holes in the walls. Most days the shower barely got above lukewarm. The hall carpets often had used Q-tips, dirty towels, and dirt marks on them. The property seems to serve court-ordered guests, some of whom may have mental health concerns. Police were often patrolling nearby, watching from parking lots across the street or questioning people having a cigarette outside. It’s a budget place, but you know you weren’t paying for the Hilton.

The rooms could really use an update, they’re very dated. But Dee and Eddie made my stay feel warm and welcoming, and they’re the reason I’d stay here again when I’m in Clearfield. When I turned on the TV, I got sound but no picture. Dee at the front desk said she’d get it handled, then called my room five minutes later with an update on when maintenance would arrive. Eddie was at my door ten minutes after that and had the problem fixed within five. Dee was incredibly accommodating, and Eddie was a solid guy. Both of them were impressive and deserve a lot of credit.

The front desk lady was nice, but the room was in awful shape. The bedspread had loads of burn holes, and it was pretty dirty and badly outdated. There were a lot of sketchy people around, and the place had a really bad vibe. We didn’t feel safe or comfortable, so we left without staying the night. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, even someone I couldn’t stand.

At first everyone was friendly, but things got strange after a few days. A staff member started complaining to me about management and other employees, then talked me into paying by tap instead of through my booking site. The tap payment didn’t go through, and I had to rebook, which cost me another $140. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. The room reeked of cigarette smoke and who knows what else, and the mattress had burn holes in it. I tried opening the window to air the place out, but there were no screens. Even after a couple of hours and using my inhaler, I still couldn’t breathe comfortably. They wouldn’t refund me.
