Staff were friendly and available around the clock, and the beach is close. Building 4, where we stayed, has showers and rinse stations. There aren't any pools nearby. The well water means you should bring drinking water and some for rinsing off. Our room, 416, was the only one available. Rooms 01 and 02 in each of the four buildings face the water, and rooms on the west side of building 4 also had good views. I couldn't find a floor map online. The room was small, as was the nice balcony. The AC ran very cold, so bring a thick blanket if that's how you like it. The sheets were mediocre. The Seahorse Grill was convenient, but the food was two stars. I'd get a good meal somewhere else. For a night or two in the off season, it's a good stay, and I'd book here again instead of a bnb.

We had a great stay in the yellow building. The rooms were very neat and clean, with a ceiling fan and a small patio overlooking the Gulf. We could see the water from the window beside the bed, too. A walkway leads straight from the property onto the beach. They also provide a free bag of ice per room and small breakfast items in the morning. The rooms may look a little modest in size compared with other hotels, but that fits the cozy beach house feel for me. Google points to the main hotel building, though the property is actually a complex of about four buildings. I had questions about booking certain rooms when I first called, and Carla was so accommodating. She was amazing, sweet, and kind, and made all of us feel welcome. If I've misspelled her name, I'm sorry. Hold on to Carla, she's great!

We picked this place because dogs are welcome, and the beach access is right up front. Staff were friendly, and check-in and check-out were simple. They give you coffee, muffins, grab-and-go fruit, and a bag of ice each day, which was great. The restaurants right by the shore don't open until 11, and others are about a 15-minute drive if you'd rather eat elsewhere. We found this nice little beach village while surfing around Texas beaches for somewhere new to check out. Definitely recommend it for a weekend getaway.

The thin walls, ceilings, and floors are something to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper. I'd strongly suggest a second-floor room, unless you're a heavy stepper too. Please be nice to the people below you. We stayed Saturday and Sunday, checking out Monday, and the public decks overlooking the beach got busy and loud. They're nicely positioned, with lots of space. The beach is so close, and the boardwalk takes you there and back without getting sand in your car. There are hotel showers and foot rinsing stations at several spots along the way. Room #401, the Hibiscus Honeymoon Room with a king bed and shower/tub, was beautiful and felt like a high-roller suite. It had everything you could want in a room, plus two doors, one onto the covered inner hallway and one out to a private deck. That deck was my favorite part. Sitting out there until the early morning, listening to waves and looking at the stars, was amazing. The water smelled absolutely awful, like sulphur and sewage. It was probably just the hard water and minerals, with no real health impact if ingested, but the smell was bad enough that I used bottled water to brush my teeth. The room was also by a front entrance, which was more of a curse than a perk. The outside door slammed so hard it shook my bed. I thought someone had kicked it. That was Sunday checkout traffic, so it was going to be loud anyway. The location was phenomenal and the staff even better. Carla and Misty were amazing, and everyone was helpful. They even called to let me know I'd left my charger. All the good outweighed the bad for me. I got a great deal and made some great memories. If you can get this room during a slow week, it might be the perfect stay.

The room was clean and nice, the bed was comfortable, and it was fairly quiet. The clerk working Monday evening was super nice and communicative. She did warn us not to drink the tap water, saying something was going on with it in that area.
