Hampton Inn & Suites Swansboro Near Camp Lejeune

The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Check-in was quick, and Cassie greeted me and shared a few good spots to visit on my trip. So many staff members said hello when I arrived. The day before check-in, I called to ask about arriving early. Jimmy was professional, kind, and knowledgeable, said he'd do his best, and asked me to call back before I arrived. When I did, Cassie said to come in early, and Jimmy had left us a note.

The staff were so nice that the remodeling noise didn't bother us much, even with hammer drills waking us in the morning and keeping us alert in the afternoon. Maybe next time I'll complain and see if I can get some free chocolate from the concierge. I might even hold out for a Hershey's Special Dark bar.

Assistant Manager Meredith McDonald went out of her way to sort out several issues. She took the time to explain things and share what she knew about the local area, and quickly found the item I was looking for in the gift shop. The staff were friendly and attentive, and my family found the rooms clean. The breakfast area was clean too, and the food was warm and good. We'll be back. Thank you! A+++ :)

The elevator takes forever, three to five business days, and its door screeches open like it's about to fall off. The gym gave me a laugh too: missing weights, machines out of order, and a five-gallon bucket of wipes sitting on the countertop. I've stayed in hotels around 150 nights a year, and this hotel's staff are among the friendliest and most professional I've come across, 11 out of 10. They were kind, responsive, patient, personable, and empathetic, and went above and beyond. They deserve better than a hotel that needs a full corporate remodel. My first room smelled like mildew, and I felt sick the next day. When I asked to move, the staff promptly found another room and upgraded me to a suite, but its bathroom ceiling was covered in black mold. The next room had mold too. A staff member then walked with me to inspect another room, which had minimal mold, so I stayed there. They also generously offered points and market items for the trouble. All I wanted was a clean room. The rooms are the second worst I've ever seen. With a full remodel, this could really be one of Hilton's best locations. Right now, the staff are doing Michelin-star work in a dollar-menu kitchen. I sincerely hope corporate is reading this and helps them.
